Steps to repair cracked dashboard
#Step 1
Sand the surface of the area where you will apply epoxy adhesive with 280 grit sandpaper. Doing so creates a rough surface for the epoxy to adhere.
A rough surface is essential for the adhesive to stick. Be sure to rub both the inside and outside of the cracked dashboard around the cracked area, as you will apply epoxy adhesive on both sides.
#Step 2
After scrubbing the surface, wipe off dust and make sure the surface is clean.
#Step 3
Prepare a cracked dashboard adhesive. If the epoxy adhesive you have chosen is not prepared, take this step to mix the ingredients to make the epoxy adhesive.
Usually there are two different colored ingredients. One is epoxy glue, and the other is amino glue. Use a binder to mix the two things together until they are uniform in color.
#Step 4
Spread the mixed epoxy adhesive evenly onto the outer surface of the cracked surface with a binder. You will have 5-15 minutes to apply the epoxy adhesive before it dries.
#Step 5
Let the epoxy adhesive set for 24 hours, and then reapply the adhesive on the inside of the cracked area. Wait another 24 hours for the glue to fully set.
#Step 6
Once the glue has fully set, you can rub lightly with sandpaper to smooth out the rough surfaces.
Wipe off dust or debris from the surface, and then apply the manufacturer’s recommended primers and topcoats.
And that’s the whole process. It only takes a weekend with money to buy epoxy glue and a little paint, you can repair your cracked dashboard. You will save a considerable amount of money compared to a complete replacement.
